Dr. Helen Driscoll of the University of Sunderland in the UK recently made a surprising announcement. She believes that the relationship between humans and robots will evolve in the future and may even lead to intimate relationships.
By 2050, our AI capabilities will have grown significantly, and by 2070, humans and robots may form a sexual bond. Dr. Driscoll, a sexologist who focuses on interactive emotional issues, believes that in the future, robots will not cause conflict with humans but rather become good assistants, capable of becoming sexual partners at least.
In contrast to Stephen Hawking's views, Dr. Driscoll's perspective is strikingly different. Hawking believed that after 2050, robots will spark conflict with humans, leaving humanity facing an uncertain future. Advanced AI systems can think independently and adapt to environmental changes, potentially leading to the downfall of humanity.
Moreover, the development of virtual reality technology has led people to become increasingly reliant on robots. In the movie "Her," Joaquin Phoenix falls in love with an operating system. In Japan, Yukirin and Frois robots even tied the knot in a wedding ceremony in Tokyo's Tabata district, attended by approximately 100 people who paid a thousand yen each as wedding gifts. With increasingly sophisticated virtual reality technology and higher levels of simulation, it's even possible to enhance human relationships. It's conceivable that some individuals may choose this type of sexual activity, seeking out robot partners instead of imperfect human ones.
